THE GOLDEN MOUNT

Location:Thanon Chakraphatdiphong, Pakklong Mahanak

Originally was an old monastery in Ayuthaya Period named “Wat Srakae” and reestablished by King Rama I who renamed it “Wat Sraket” meaning “The Royal Head Wash” to signify this action after reture to suppress the reble in Thonburi.

Phookhao Thong or “Baroma Banphot” in the reign of King Rama III was a Prang and later renovated and transformed into a mountain with chedi on top encircled with a gallery. Interesting are:

Ubosot built in the reign of King Rama I a mural painting depicting the Lord Buddha’s 10 former lives; the Pavilions of boundary stones in 8 directions; etc. Open daily between 07.30-17.30 hours.
