Location: Rajadamoen Klang Rd.

Built in 1939 to commemorate the Change from Absolute Monarchy to Democracy Monarchy on June 24, 1932 (B.E.2475), this monument has representations as follows:

  • 24-meter high Rides represent the date of Change.
  • 3 meter-high Tray represents Legislative; administrative and Justice
  • 75 cannons represents the year B.E. 2475
  •  Highrelief on the Ridge Base represents the preparation of the Activator
  •  6 swords represent Sovereign; internal Peace; Freedom: Coequality; Econoy and Education

Location: Thanon Siriphong at the rear of Wat Suthat Thepwararam Rajawarawihan

Originally was a site for a prison called “Capital Penalty Division or New Jail” and renamed” Bangkok Special prison”

SUAN ROMANEENAT

The Department of Corrections later moved the prison away and had Romneenat Park built meaning “Garden of the Queen Supporter” in honor of HM Queen Sirikit on her 5th cycle birthday. Outstanding are the Sculpture of Bronze Conch” in the fountain and the Corrections Museum—the four buildings exhibiting penalty equipment and the development of the Department of Corrections other than multi-purpose ground for exercise and jogging.

Originally called Tung Phra Meru as it was used as a royal crematory place until the rein of King Rama IV who renamed it to Sanam Luang, the ground is presently used for royal events such as First Ploughing Ceremony; Bangkok Bicentennial Celebration; Golden Jubilee; and cremations of members of royal family
