KLONG BANGKOK NOI

Location:Kwarng Siriraj, Bangkok Noi District

In the old days, waterways were the Bangkokians’ way of life and still remain part of it in spite of the rapid changes. This is also true for the locals of Thonburi with Bangkok Noi canal-dug under the royal command of Ayuthaya’s King ChaiRaja to shorten the travel distance. Today Klong Bangkok Noi still remains part of their way of life with arts and cultures including temples on both sides as in the past.

Wat Phra Kaew Temple Bangkok Thailand

Location: Out Court, east of the Grand Palace

Built in 1782 when Rattanakosin was established, Wat Phrasri Rattanasasdaram or Wat Phra Kaeo is royal chapel of the same model as that of Ayuthaya’s Wat pra Sri Sanphet to house the Emerald Buddha image.

Also found in this temple are the replice of Angkor Wat: Prasat Phra Thepbidora: Pha Mondapa: Thai dwaf pkants and many more.

Location: On the right before entering the Emerald Buddha Temple

Under the royal command of King Rama I to relocate the city from Thonburi to the eastern side of the Chao Praya, the Grand Palace, constructed as the administration center and residence of Rattanakosin monarchs, has the same plan as Ayuthaya’s Palace, close to the river and faces the north, with three Courts—Outer: Central and Lnner . Chakri Mahaprasat and Dusit Mahaprasat are the significant Throne Kalls other than a number of royal household.
